We have prepared the conjugated organic material named coumarin derivative (3-{(2E)-3-[4-(dimethylamino)phenyl]prop-2-enoyl}-2H-chromen-2-one) in dimethyl formamide (DMF), solution and investigated their nonlinear optical transmission by the open-aperture and closed aperture z-scan technique, using nanosecond laser pulses, at the excitation wavelength of 1064 nm. The nonlinear absorption coefficient, nonlinear refractive index, and third-order nonlinear susceptibility of the compounds are measured.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
