Zur Frage der Umwandlung haematogener Monozyten zu Fibroblasten in heilenden Wunden

Abstract: Recent investigations of HELPAP and CREMER 1972 seem to confirm the supposition of COHNHEIM 1867 that monocytes of the peripheral blood are transformed into firbroblasts in healing wounds. The view of VIRCHOW 1871, MARCHAND 1901 and ASCHOFF 1924 that the fibroblasts in healing wounds are of local origin seems to be supported by the invesigation on parabiotic inbred rats of ROSS et al. 1970. We thought that irradiating the whole body of rabbits could be of value in resolving these apparent contradictions about … Show more

“…In the case of fibroblasts, the concept of local origin has been well supported in recent years by animal experiments using serial microscopy (3) augmented by radionuclide labelling (4), selective X-irradiation (5) and parabiosis (6). However, there is n o general agreement, for some workers claim that wound fibroblasts may be derived from macrophages or monocytes (7)(8)(9)(10). To reconcile these divergent views, Khruschov (1 1) has proposed the existence of two populations of fibroblast: shortlived 'trophic' cells of bone marrow lineage and longlived 'supportive' cells of local derivation.…”
