“…The presence of clinoptilolite is believed related to the close proximity of the well to the salt dome and movement of brines around it or, possibly, to a volcanic ashfall. The high percentage of clinoptilolite skews the average grain density for the clean sands lower, down to 2.59 g/cc in a clean, high porosity sand, and the induction resistivity lower because of its high microporosity (Reynolds and Williford, 1991). Therefore, the reported log analysis water saturations may be slightly high in some thin sands in some wells.…”
