Abstract

Zarzut redukcjonizmu w kontekście relacji biologia-socjologia 37Zarzut redukcjonizmu w kontekście relacji biologia-socjologia Łukasz Remisiewicz | Wydział Nauk Społecznych, Uniwersytet Gdański Streszczenie W niniejszym artykule autor omawia trzy kwestie. Po pierwsze, jak należy poprawnie sformułować zarzut redukcjonizmu? Po drugie, ile jest typów redukcjonizmu? Po trzecie, czy współczesne próby wiązania biologii i socjologii różnią się pod względem tendencji redukcjonistycznych od socjobiologii? Posługując się pięcioczłonową typologią redukcjonizmu, wskazuje, że zarzut redukcjonizmu jest zasadny wówczas, gdy teoretyczne lub kauzalne elementy socjologii sprowadzane są do biologii w sposób stratny. Analizując założenia silnej socjobiologii, autor argumentuje, że wiele zarzutów podnoszonych było nie tyle przeciwko dopełnianiu wyjaśnień socjologicznych biologicznym ekwiwalentem, ale imperialności socjobiologii, która próbowała przebudować socjologię, eliminując niektóre z jej celów. W przeciwieństwie do socjobiologii nowe podejścia łączące biologię z socjologią nie popełniają tego błędu, przez co zarzut redukcjonizmu nie może być w stosunku do nich podniesiony. Problem of Reductionism in the Context of the Relations between Biology and Sociology AbstractIn the article author discusses the three cases. First, how one should correctly express the problem of reductionism? Second, how many types of reductionism can we distinguish? Third, do contemporary attempts of linking biology and sociology are diff erent, in terms of reductionist tendencies, from sociology? Using fi ve-part typology of reductionism, the author indicates that the problem of reductionism can be taken only if some elements of sociology are eliminated in the process of theoretical or causal reduction. Analysing the assumptions of strong sociobiology, the author suggests that a lot of accusation were directed not against biologically complement sociological explanations, but rather against imperialist tendencies of sociobiology which tried to rebuild sociology. Unlike to sociobiology, newest approaches linking biology and sociology do not make such mistakes, hence the problem of reductionism is not relating to them.
