“…The best results were obtained with the complex of Al 3+ which has the smallest radius and the lowest solubility of hydroxide at elevated temperatures. This also agrees with the beneficial effect of small amounts of lithium nitrate and aluminum added to a solution containing 25 g/l of NH 4 NO 3 , which makes it possible to reduce the oxidizing bath temperature to 70°C [50]. The goal of further studies was to increase the corrosion resistance of the MC through its passivating treatment or to impart superhydrophobic properties to the surface.…”

“…Recently, osmophilic micromycetes of the genus Wallemia and halophilic black yeast have been isolated from salterns [66,67]. Obligatory halophilic fungi from the order Thraustochytriales-Thraustochytrium pachydermum and Schizochytrium aggregatum were discovered in winter pools that are created by the application of crystalline salt (of various origins) to roads and sidewalks in order to melt ice [68]. Among the microorganisms cultivated from a Vestfold Hills hypersaline lake were one species of extremely halophilic archaea and one halophilic alga.…”

“…However, the precipitation mechanism of MC formation on steel is not the only one possible. Magnetite formation may be also realized in the course of a direct electrochemical reaction taking place upon the alkalizing of the solution near-surface layer [5,6].…”

“…The traditional technique for the realization of the process of "steel blueing" stipulates the application of strong alkali solutions and high temperatures t = 130-165 ° C. However, in recent years, a technology for obtaining MC in less severe conditions has been developed which allows the application of neutral and subacid oxidizing nitrate solutions at low temperatures ( t < 100 ° C). The introduction of some additives into these solutions contributes to the improvement of MC quality, increases their thickness, and decreases structural defects [4][5][6]. Nevertheless, it is clear that, for obtaining qualitative coatings, a more sophisticated understanding of the oxidation process in nitrate solutions at the initial stages of MC formation is required.…”
