Rubber dandelion (Taraxacum kok-saghyz, Rodin) is being developed as a temperate-zone source of rubber, but best agronomic practices must be determined before it can become a viable supplement to imported rubber produced from para rubber tree (Hevea brasiliensis, hevea) plantations located mostly in Southeast Asia. In our study, the effect of planting density and harvest time on yield was determined by transplanting 1.5-month-old greenhouse-produced plants at planting densities of 1.24, 2.47, 4.94, and 9.88 million plants/ha, randomized across four planting boxes with two densities per box (i.e., two planting areas at each density). Half of each planting area was selected randomly and hand-harvested after 6 months, and the remaining plants were hand-harvested after 1 year. Rubber yields per plant were greater after 1 year than after 6 months, but yields per unit area were similar as a result of the loss of half the plants during the severe 2013–14 Ohio winter. A maximum rubber yield of 960 kg dry rubber/ha was obtained from the 9.88 million-plants/ha planting density after 1 year, but root size was significantly decreased compared with lower densities, and appeared too small for mechanical harvest. A planting density between 2.47 and 4.94 million plants/ha may produce the optimal combination of root size and total rubber yield. Greater rubber concentrations, faster-growing plants, short-season germplasm, and in-field weed control are required before yields obtained in outdoor planting boxes can be matched or exceeded on farms, especially in a direct-seeded rubber dandelion crop.

Dandelion (Taraxacum spp.) is a widely distributed weed; in China, however, dandelion has been considered to be a kind of medicinal and edible vegetable in recent years. This transition from weed to vegetable requires corresponding cultivation and management. Thus, the production of dandelion on saline land was conducted based on the evaluation of dandelion salt tolerance. Low soil salt content (< 0.3%) did not significantly affect dandelion growth, and the salt tolerance threshold of dandelion ranged from 0.4% to 0.43% according to the correlation between salt content and morphological and physiological parameters, which was for guiding the preparation of saline land for dandelion field cultivation. Different fertilizer treatments significantly affected the leaf yield of dandelion, and the maximum fresh leaf yield of ~10.5 t ha−1 was obtained when urea was applied in batches at a ratio of 2:2:1 in the sowing, seedling and flowering stages, respectively. This research provided the theoretical and technical support for the cultivation on saline land, laying the foundation for further study of quality control for the cultivation of dandelion on saline land.

In recent years, the interest of researchers in the herbal preparation has grown significantly. Plants are sources of biologically active substances (BAS). In previous articles, the chemical composition and biologically active substances of plants endemic Taraxacum kok-saghyz Rodin growing in Kazakhstan has been studied. Among the BAS of plant origin, inulin and flavonoids occupy a special place. The article examines the release of inulin and flavonoid from the stem of Taraxacum kok-saghyz Rodin plants. In order to isolate a flavonoid, you first need to extract inulin. Due to the fact that in our plants, inulin accumulates up to 40%. Therefore, the first stage was to isolate inulin: with extractions 1:10 with distilled water for 60 minutes, and in the second stage, the further isolation of the residue was first dried, the dry residue was 1:10 with a ratio of 70% ethanol for 3 hours. The inulin yield was -5%, the melting point was 1300C. A The yield of flavanoid is 0.66%, the melting point is 1700 C, the aggregate state is acicular light brown light. The structure of the isolated flavonoid was determined on a Uviline 9100 spectro-photometer; the highest absorption was observed at a wavelength of 364 nm. Consequently, the structure of the isolated flavonoid coincides with the literature data. The maxima of the UV, IR, 13С -NMR. spectrum show that flavonol is a derivative.
