“…The second phase (with a slower extraction rate) starts once the readily available oil is depleted and the oil from the deeper sections of the solid matrix begins to be extracted. At this stage the diffusion and the internal resistance of mass transfer dominate the extraction process . For supercritical CO 2 (Figure a), under the conditions of high oil yield (runs 1 and 2), it is possible to observe the two phases, but for the other conditions, most of the oil was removed during the phase with a fast extraction rate.…”

“…For the extractions with supercritical CO 2 , the application of high pressure (22 MPa) and low temperature (313 K) favoured higher yields ( p < 0.05). Increasing the pressure at a constant temperature increased the density of the supercritical fluid, hence the distance between molecules of the solvent and solute decreased, which increased the capacity of the solvent to solubilize the lipids, so higher oil yields were obtained. For instance, the oil yield from the macauba kernel decreased from 36.87 to 9.31 % when the density was decreased from 0.82 to 0.54 g/cm 3 (runs 1 and 3).…”

“…Diffusivity, density, viscosity and solvation power of solvents, among others, are parameters that can be adjusted to conduct a suitable activation. Among the solvents, CO 2 , propane, n‐butane, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) are most widely used because they favor mass transport and enable working with mild temperatures …”

“…Among the solvents, CO 2 , propane, n-butane, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) are most widely used because they favor mass transport and enable working with mild temperatures. [7][8][9][10] Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB, EC 3.1.1.3) is one of the enzymes that can be activated in pressurized fluids. CALB is an excellent biocatalyst for many types of reactions, such as hydrolysis, esterification, and transesterification.…”

“…The oil recovered by LPG-mediated method was found with a high concentration of palmitic, oleic, linoleic acids, lycopersene, and stigmasterol. In terms of antioxidant capacity, oil extracted by supercritical method was superior to compressed LPG-assisted oil sample [25]. The quality of avocado oil extracted by solvent extraction was compared with the oil extracted by SC and ultrasound-assisted aqueous extraction (UAAE) methods.…”
