In this study, 1% and 2% of macerated fenugreek oil was added to the feeds of rainbow trout with an average weight of 25.79 ± 1.5 g. At the end of the study, growth rate, blood parameters and NBT (Nitroblue Tetrazolium) level of rainbow trout were determined. The best feed ratio (FCR) was observed in the control group (0.77). Statistically significant differences were found only in MID values (P<0.05), although there was a numerical increase in all blood parameters.There was no statistically significant difference between NBT levels (P> 0.05). Although the best weight gain was in the control group as in the FCR values, the maximum elongation was measured at D1 and then at D2 (P <0.05). The best survival rate was obtained with 96.66% in D1 while the worst was observed in D2 with 60% (p<0,05).

Recent status of exotic tilapia species in Turkey

One of the most controversial issues in Turkey about the occurrence of the exotic fish species belonging to the family Cichlidae. Up to date, starting the 1970’s a total of seven species including Coptodon rendalli, C. zillii, Oreochromis aureus, O. mossambicus, O. niloticus, Sarotherodon galilaeus and Tristramella simonis introduced to Turkey for aquaculture purposes or accidently. Then these species have deliberately released or escaped from research and aquaculture facilities establishing themselves into natural environment of Turkey. In other cases, tilapia have been introduced into new aquatic habitats via aquarists or ornamental fish farmers. There was not any reliable record about establishment of O. mossambicus, S. galilaeus and T. simonis in Turkey. It is observed that now C. rendalli, C. zillii, O. aureus, and O. niloticus and/or hybrids of them exist in the wild water system of Turkey. Another problematic issue is that species identification of specimens found in nature is impossible due to the fact that hybridization of different species of Cichlidae. By the way, the range of the species belonging to the family Cichlidae in Turkey is determined that a need for detailed genetic studies to assess the current status.

Kültür balıkçılığında, kültürü yapılacak türün çevresel isteklerinin sağlanmasının yanında sağlıklı olarak yaşamına devam etmesi için besin madde isteklerinin sağlayan yem içerikleri üretim ve yetiştiriciliğin en önemli konudur. Bilimsel araştırma ve geliştirme çalışmaları ile belirlenmiş olan yem içerikleri, balığın türü ve yaşam evresine göre balıklara verilerek balığın büyüme performansı ve verimliliği arttırılmaktadır. Yemler, balığın büyüme ve üreme ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacak hayvansal ve bitkisel kaynaklı besin maddeleri ile doğal veya sentetik katkı maddelerini de içerecek şekilde ilave edilerek yemler formüle edilirler. Balığa uygun olan içerikte hazırlanan yemler rasyon olarak ifade edilmekte ve balık için günlük besin maddelerini ihtiva etmektedir. Balık türlerinin yem veya rasyonları farklı içerikte olup toz, pelet, granül olarak isimlendirilen formlarda hazırlanmaktadır. Yeme fonksiyonellik kazandırılması, yemi iyileştirici ve yemin kalitesi arttırıcı yeni yem maddelerinin ve yem katkı maddelerinin farklı formülasyonlar ile yeme katılması kültür balıkçılığını bir adım daha öne taşımaktadır.
