Friendships are beneficial to a person's growth and well‐being. People in close relationships may experience four types of self‐change: self‐expansion, self‐pruning, self‐contraction, and self‐adulteration. The current cross‐sectional research sought to investigate whether these relational self‐change processes explain the links between friendship quality and well‐being in same‐sex best friendships. Study 1A (N = 187) adapted the Turkish Relational Self‐Change Scale to the friendship context and confirmed its psychometric adequacy in addressing friendship‐based self‐changes in Türkiye. Study 1B (N = 306) examined the links between different friendship functions and relational self‐changes, as well as whether relational self‐changes explain the link between friendship quality and ontological well‐being. Among the specific friendship functions, stimulating companionship and self‐validation were related to self‐expansion and self‐pruning, whereas reliable alliance was related to self‐contraction and self‐adulteration. Self‐adulteration also indirectly explained the relationship between friendship quality and ontological well‐being. Study 2 (N = 204) revealed that only self‐pruning explained the link between perceived friend responsiveness and overall well‐being. The contributions of friendships to self‐change and personal well‐being were discussed in light of the findings.

Need Satisfaction as a Mediator of Associations between Interparental Relationship Dimensions and Autonomy Supportive Parenting: A Weekly Diary Study

Guided by the self-determination theory, this weekly diary study tested a process model in which week-to-week mother-reported interparental conflict and perceived partner responsiveness were associated with maternal autonomy support by means of maternal psychological need satisfaction. During six consecutive weeks, 258 mothers (M age = 41.71 years) and their 157 adolescents (51.4% females, M age = 14.92 years) from Turkey provided weekly reports of the study variables via an online survey. Multilevel analyses showed that maternal need satisfaction was predicted by lower levels of interparental conflict and greater levels of perceived partner responsiveness. Maternal need satisfaction, in turn, was positively associated with maternal and adolescent reports of maternal autonomy support. Further, these week-to-week associations were partly moderated by maternal perfectionism. The results underscore the dynamic nature of the intrafamily relationships, the important role of particular conditions in which mothers may become more autonomy supportive, and the necessity to consider mother's personal characteristics while examining these dynamics.

Erken yaşlardaki ilk nesne kurulan ilişkilerin içselleştirilmesiyle oluşan içsel temsilleri ve/veya reddedilmeye dair kaygılı/korkulu bir bekleyiş içinde olmasına neden olan reddedilme duyarlılığı bireyin tüm hayatı boyunca ötekilerle kurduğu yakın ilişkilerini etkileyebilmektedir. Bu araştırmada yetişkin bireylerin ilk nesne ilişkileri ve reddedilme duyarlılığı ile yakın ilişkileri arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Çalışmada yakın ilişki kavramı romantik ilişki boyutu ile ele alınmaktadır. Araştırmada ilişkisel tarama modeli ve örneklem yöntemi olarak basit seçkisiz örnekleme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma İstanbul’da ikamet eden, 18-45 yaş arası 200 kadın (%50) 200 erkek (%50) olmak üzere toplam 400 katılımcı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak Reddedilme Duyarlılığı Ölçeği, Çok Boyutlu İlişki Ölçeği, Bell Nesne İlişkileri ve Gerçeği Değerlendirme Ölçeği (BORTTI) ve araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen sosyodemografik Bilgi Formu kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadaki verilerin analizi SPSS 25 programı ile yapılmış, değişkenler arası ilişkiyi test etmek için Pearson Korelasyon Analizi, gruplar arası anlamlı farkı saptamak için ise Bağımsız Gruplar T-Testi ve ANOVA kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın hipotezleri doğrultusunda ilk nesne ilişkileri ile reddedilme duyarlılığı arasında pozitif yönlü bir ilişki saptanmıştır. Araştırmanın temel hipotezi olan, ilk nesne ilişkileri ile yakın ilişkiler arasındaki ilişkide reddedilme duyarlılığının aracı rol oynadığı doğrulanmış, kısmi aracılığı olduğu bulunmuştur. Yabancılaşma, güvensiz bağlanma, egosentrizm, sosyal yetersizlik, gerçeğin bozulması, algı belirsizliği, halüsinasyon ve delüzyon arttıkça reddedilme duyarlılığının artığı görülmüştür. Yakın ilişkiler ve reddedilme duyarlılığı arasında ise negatif yönlü ilişki tespit edilmiştir.
