Abstract: Accurate identification of Smilax (Smilacaceae) species in Thailand is mostly dependent on plants of both sexes being collected in the right reproductive phase. To explore an alternative method, abaxial and adaxial leaf surfaces of six Smilax species were examined for delimiting architecture.
