XPS and some surface characterizations of electrodeposited MgO nanostructure

Abstract: Growth conditions, structural, and optical properties of MgO nanostructure have been investigated. Surface composition and shift in binding energy of Mg at 50.8 eV due to oxidation were examined by core-level spectroscopy. The SEM showed that the film is dense, and grain growth and crystallinity are enhanced by post-deposition annealing. Grain distribution was appraised within the confinement of 24.51 μm 2 from the selected scan areas. X-ray diffraction studies indicated prominent peaks, which are attributed t… Show more

“…There is no other visible contribution of metallic magnesium related to the main Mg KLL emission peaks. These spectra that were found in the range 304.4-308.8 eV are attributed to the oxidation of polycrystalline Mg [56]. FE-SEM images in Figure 4 show the surface morphologies of the bare sample and the coatings that were assembled by the PM technique.…”

“…1b(ii)]. This can be attributed to the fact that (i) annealing can give film's particles adequate energy to orient in proper equilibrium site and (ii) crystallographic texture of thin film can be improved by thermal treatment [7]. Cross-sectional SEM studies gave the film's thickness as *20.16 lm.…”

“…The core-level Mg 2p spectrum for all AMlite surfaces could be resolved into two spectra having binding energy peaks at 49.8-50.1 and 50.8-51.1 eV, which are attributed to metallic Mg and Mg(OH) 2 , respectively. 38 Oxygen (O) existed in the form of OH in the surface film, as indicated by the characteristic peak value at 531.8 -531.9.…”
