Worldsheet dual of free $\mathcal{N}=2$ quiver gauge theories

Abstract: For a special family of 4d N = 2 superconformal quiver theories, the worldsheet dual corresponding to the free theory is identified. This result is obtained from the recently proposed worldsheet dual of free N = 4 SYM by applying a Z k orbifold. In support of our proposal we show that the spectrum of both the untwisted as well as the twisted sectors coincides between the two descriptions.

“…Beside being very interesting in their own, these quiver theories give rise, upon further orbifold or orientifold projections, to other superconformal N = 2 models, like for instance the so-called E-theory with gauge group SU(N ) and matter in the antisymmetric plus the symmetric representation, recently discussed in [5,6]. Furthermore, they are also interesting from the integrability point of view (see [7] and references therein) and can be used to analyze the tensionless limit of string theory in the AdS 5 × S 5 /Z M background and to probe the dual free world-sheet description in a context with N = 2 supersymmetry [8].…”

“…The conclusion would be that the worldsheet dual of a generic free CFT is, at least partially, describable in terms of worldsheet fields which formally resemble those of the free field realisation of psu(1, 1|2) 1 . This is indeed true for the case of the worldsheet dual of free N = 4 super Yang-Mills [33,34], and has also recently shown to be true for a large class of free N = 2 quiver gauge theories dual to tensionless string theory on AdS 5 × (S 5 )/Z N [35]. It would thus be interesting to explore further the connection between twistor-like worldsheet theories and the stringy duals to free holographic CFTs.…”
