This article investigates the long run relationship between energy consumption and the economic growth in Nigeria from the period of 1985 to 2010. However, the study make use of secondary data analysis of ordinary least square method of Multiple regression analysis and the objectives of the study is to examine whether energy consumption brings economic growth in Nigeria and also to examine the long run effect of energy consumption on growth in Nigeria. Moreover, the results revealed that Petroleum, Electricity are positively related to Nigeria economic growth while coal and Gas shows that there is a negative relationship with Nigerian economic growth. However, the study conclude that that increased energy consumption is a strong determinant of economic growth having an implicit effect in lagged periods and both an implicit and explicit effect on the present period in Nigeria. Thus, the study recommends that the energy sector should be given more relevance even by exploiting the opportunities laden in the sector to increase economic growth.

Pakistan is experiencing an undersupply of electricity, causing load shedding several hours per day due to the adherence to conventional energy resources having quantitative and environmental limitations. Fossil fuels generate more than half of the country’s total electricity, but they will ultimately run out due to their limited supply. Their combustion emits greenhouse gases, posing environmental threats. Since the world is tending toward efficient and sustainable alternative methods for harvesting energy from nature, Pakistan has also been investigating an elevated deployment of renewable energy projects. This paper presents a critical analysis of the present energy sector of Pakistan along with global scenarios. Pakistan relies on mainly thermal, hydro, and nuclear energy for power generation. National solar, wind, geothermal, and biomass resources have not been extensively explored and implemented. This paper provides an insight into the potential of these resources in Pakistan to generate electricity for the national grid on a large scale. It focuses on biomass energy, which can be harnessed from bagasse, poultry waste, and municipal waste for power production, and biomass-based fuel for industries and transportation. It concludes that biomass is the most sustainable, available, implementable, and environment-friendly resource that can be utilized to lessen the energy demand and supply gap in Pakistan.

It is important to evaluate the solubility of solid carbon dioxide in liquefied natural gas for natural gas liquefaction at relatively high temperature. The regular solution method and the equations-of-state (EOS) are used to calculate the solubility of carbon dioxide in saturated liquid methane in this paper. The calculation results are compared with the experiment data, and it certifies that the EOS method can be recommended for this kind of solubility calculation. In addition, nitrogen and ethane are common components in natural gas. In this paper, PR EOS is selected to calculate the solubility of carbon dioxide in CH 4 +N 2 and CH 4 +C 2 H 6 mixtures. Results show that the solubility of carbon dioxide in liquid CH 4 +N 2 mixtures increases with the addition of nitrogen content in the relatively low temperature region (lower than 155K). With the temperature increases, the solubility of carbon dioxide decreases with the increase of nitrogen content. While in liquid CH 4 +C 2 H 6 mixtures, it increases with the increase of ethane content.
