Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah ada pengaruh positif langsung spiritualitas kerja terhadap kepuasan kerja. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kuantitatif. Sampel penelitian ini adalah 174 responden yang dipilih secara acak. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan: adanya pengaruh positif langsung spiritualitas kerja terhadap kepuasan kerja dosen. Sebagai implikasi dari temuan penelitian ini adalah bahwa meningkatkan kepuasan kerja dan spiritualitas kerja dosen harus dipertimbangkan.Kata kunci: spiritualitas kerja, kepuasan kerja THE EFFECT OF SPIRITUALITY OF WORK ON LECTURE’S JOB SATISFACTION OF THE MANADO STATE POLYTECHNICAbstractThe objective of this research is to study the direct effect of the spirituality of work on job satisfaction of the lecture’s the Manado State Polytechnic. The research aimed at examining whether there is a direct positive influence of spirituality of work on job satisfaction. This research was conducted using quantitative methods. The samples of this research were 174 lectures selected randomly. The result of the research concluded: there is a direct positive influence of the spirituality of work toward lecturer’s job satisfaction. As the implication of this research finding are that improve lecture’s job satisfaction and spirituality of work must be taken into consideration.Keywords: the spirituality of work, job satisfaction

Organizational conditions after the COVID-19 pandemic forced almost all countries to take steps to reduce employees and cut employee salaries. Organizations must cultivate employee commitment to improving HR performance so that organizations can compete in this era. In this way, it can also effectively make organizational members feel uncomfortable due to the many changes that occur to survive and not leave the organization. Organizational citizenship behavior of employees is an important part that is also considered in the effectiveness of this philanthropic activity. Employees who avoid pettiness, do not complain about trivial things, and have manners to prevent work-related problems with other employees will create a healthy working atmosphere. This study aimed to examine the effect of workplace spirituality, Islamic work ethics, and organizational citizenship behavior on employee commitment in the Covid-19 Pandemic Era. This study uses two exogenous variables, namely workplace spirituality and Islamic work ethics, and endogenous variables, namely employee commitment and organizational citizenship behavior, as intervening variables. Data were collected from 61 respondents at philanthropic institutions of the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The sampling technique in this study used a non-probability sampling method, namely the saturated sample. The data analysis technique in this study uses Structural Equation Modeling with the help of SmartPLS 3. The results of this study indicate that all proposed hypotheses have been accepted. The mediating role of organizational citizenship behavior for X1 and X2 is partial mediation, or mediation does not play a full role. So the presence or absence of organizational citizenship behavior, these two variables still affect employee commitment.

It is difficult to define the term “workplace spirituality” precisely as it means different things to different people. The confusion arises due to the use of the word spirituality and religion synonymously. But workplace spirituality is not the same as religion. Spirituality at workplace is as simple as having a sense of connection between own self and the workplace. In a fast-moving world, employees often face anxiety, fear, and depression. Working in an environment that supports the employees’ right to openly express their beliefs helps them to have better working relationships with colleagues, feel safer, and be more engaged in their work. Therefore, more and more organizations are inculcating spirituality in their environment, as the impact of a good environment is not only felt by the employees but can be measured through economic outputs, using measures such as quality, productivity, and profitability. In the current research, previous literature has been reviewed to study the rising interest in workplace spirituality as well as to understand its importance for the employees in an organization. It was found that workplace spirituality has a significant impact of work attitudes like organizational performance, job involvement, job commitment, and job satisfaction as a whole. Some of the models given by various authors over time were also studied. These models established relationship between the three aspects of workplace spirituality (inner self, meaningful work, and sense of community) and different work attitudes. The models are quite similar in most of the studies leading to positive results related to influence of workplace spirituality. Few models even suggest the role of spiritual leadership as well in influencing workplace spirituality. Overall, these models suggest that there is significant and positive impact on employees due to workplace spirituality as seen from both empirical and theoretical evidence. Finally, the managerial implications and some suggestions for future research in this area have been provided.
