Wireless Power Transfer Using a Five-Phase Wound-Rotor Induction Machine for Speed-Controlled Rotary Platforms

Abstract: The use of rotary assembly platforms is common in several automation applications, such as in bottle filling and capping systems. One of the problems that designers has to address is how to supply the electric actuators, sensors and process controllers located on the rotating disk of the machine. The traditional solution is to use slip-ring contacts. However, they suffer from aging and thus a scheduled maintenance program is required. In this paper, the motion of the platform and the contact-less energy transf… Show more

“…From equation (5), the torque of the machine is proportional to the squared air gap flux (that will be maintained constant) and proportional to the slip angular speed. If the air gap flux is constant, the torque can be controlled by the control of slip angular speed ω SLIP .…”

“…Based on convenience and safety, wireless power transfer (WPT) technology has been developed rapidly in the field of electric vehicles [1][2][3], urban rail transit [4], motor control [5,6], LED [7], and so on. Along with the development and optimization of new devices [8,9], topology and coil structure [10,11], the performance of WPT system has greatly improved.…”

“…However, the current methodology may serve to guide the design of optimum coaxial inductors with rectangular cross, and more general cases have not been investigated. In [5], the model is used to predict the self-capacitance of hexagonal winding coils. However, in order to improve the calculation precision, the nonlinear distributed voltage should be considered more carefully.…”
