Wireless Full-Duplex Medium Access Control for Enhancing Energy Efficiency

Abstract: Recent years have witnessed a proliferation of battery-powered mobile devices, e.g., smartphones, tablets, sensors, and laptops, which leads a significant demand for high capacity wireless communication with high energy efficiency. Among technologies to provide the efficiency is full-duplex wireless communication. Full-duplex wireless enhances capacity by simultaneously transmitting uplink and downlink data with limited frequency resources. Previous studies on full-duplex wireless mostly focuses on doubling th… Show more

“…The calculated power consumption values for ω TX , ω RX , and ω d in TABLE 3 are based on [45]. Values of ω SIC and ω CTRL are stated in [46]. While ω SIC accounts for both active and passive cancellation circuits, the majority of SIC is treated passively with minimal power consumption.…”

“…Fig. 10 shows analytical and simulation results of energyefficiency in terms of Megabits/Joule resulting from dividing throughput by consumed power as in [46]. The results are reported for both HD and IBFD cases.…”

“…In Figure 10, the loop signal shown in Figure 9 is canceled by equipping the SD-RoF edge with the analog cancellator shown in Figure 11. We used the passive cancellation circuit developed in [25] for full-duplex wireless communication as the analog cancellator.…”
