Winogradskyella aurantiaca sp. nov., isolated from seawater

Abstract: A Gram-stain-negative, non-flagellated, motile-by-gliding, orange-coloured bacterial strain, designated strain IMCC20180, was isolated from seawater collected off the coast of the East Sea in the Republic of Korea. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strain IMCC20180 was most closely related to Winogradskyellaporiferorum UST030701-295 (95.7 % sequence similarity) and formed a robust phylogenetic clade with other Winogradskyella species, indicating that the strain was affiliated with the genus Winog… Show more

“…with a mean genome size of 2.60 Mbp ± 0.70 (ranging from 1.16 Mbp for Bin_46_1 to 3.52 Mbp for W. tangerina M1309 T ) was hypothesized to have a free-living lifestyle. The OPU09 represented by HL4150 was the only one of our isolates that affiliated with this branch, together with other species of planktonic origin (Figure 1), such as W. aurantiaca [58] and W. aquimaris [34]. However, the fact that other species of the same clade had been isolated as putatively associated with surfaces, such as W. tangerina and W. aurantia from sediments [60,67], or W.…”

“…The previously published articles listed in the References [1–50] contained the phrase ‘Summed features are groups of two or three fatty acids that are treated together for the purpose of evaluation in the MIDI system and include both peaks with discrete ECLs as well as those where the ECLs are not reported separately’, which was taken from and consequently should have cited the following article:…”

“…The genus Winogradskyella has 44 species with validly published names. Following several revisions of the genus description, the genus is now defined as catalase-positive, strictly aerobic or facultatively anaerobic, motile by gliding, yellowish to orange-colored, rod-or cocci-shaped bacteria that contain phosphatidylethanolamine as a major polar lipid and menaquinone-6 (MK-6) as a major respiratory quinone (Song et al 2018).…”
