Wind Erosion Intensity Determination Using Soil Particle Catcher Devices

Abstract: To analyze wind erosion events in the real terrain conditions, we proposed to construct a prototype of soil particle catcher devices to trap soil particles. With these devices we are able to measure the intensity of wind erosion at six different heights above the soil surface in one location or at three different heights in two places. It is possible to use them for six different places at the same time as well. We performed field measurements to determine the amount of soil particles transported by the wind b… Show more

“…Cloud providers can also offer a solution to the security issues raised by service distribution in small institutions. The beauty of this user friendly web geoservice-based data management tool, is the possibility of a wide usage and application to different sources; for instance in the determination of abiotic parameters like wind erosion intensity using soil particles (Lackóová et al, 2013), where the data collected in the field can be used as components/ input to create a repositories to be shared with the community. Another perspective is related to syntactic and semantic harmonization of metadata and dataset, which requires intelligent applications that integrate the current technological solutions and standards with knowledge coming from the domain experts.…”

“…Wind erosion is one of the most serious problems in arid and semi-arid environments (Lackoova et al, 2013;Zhang et al, 2018;Sirjani et al, 2019). Because wind erosion is influenced by the climatic conditions (Skidmore, 1986), it mainly occurs in arid regions with dry soils containing a low moisture content and lack of vegetation cover for most of the year (Ekhtesasi and Sepehr, 2009;Mahmoodabadi, 2011;Broomandi et al, 2017;Hereher, 2018).…”

“…Mankind disrupted the basic parts of the environment as it increases its economic activity. This is the result of the matter that the renewable natural resources have some limitations and also because the consequences of the effects of particular technologies to the environment were not considered sufficiently [10]. Global focus to the topic of environment is the result of the concerns of the negative results of the development in the particular industries, which are often causing the devastation of the natural environment and properties and it is also the serious threat to the public health.…”
