Wideband multiple‐input–multiple‐output dielectric resonator antenna

Abstract: A two-element multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) dielectric resonator antenna having wideband characteristics is presented. The wideband operation is achieved by using a mushroom shaped dielectric resonator excited by a conformal trapezoidal patch. In order to realise two-element MIMO configuration, two wideband radiators are arranged orthogonally which offers polarisation diversity. The measured bandwidth (VSWR ≤ 2) for Port1 is 61% (5.08-9.50 GHz), whereas for Port2 it is 65% (4.89-9.61 GHz). The isolatio… Show more

“…A lesser value of ECC signifies a higher isolation among elements and lesser mutual coupling. In practical MIMO designs, a value of less than 0.5 is considered good for ECC and hence is desirable for good MIMO system [13]. It can be computed from complex scattering parameters as:…”

“…. Tailoring the shape of DR in the efficient manner also enhances the impedance bandwidth and several DRAs with tailored geometries such as bow‐tie, apollaian gasket, dumbbell‐shaped, inverted umbrella shaped, mushroom‐shaped, H‐shaped and E‐shaped have been reported for the wideband operations. The designs reported in Refs.…”
