Bi-directional Beams Waveguide Slotted Antenna at Millimeter Wave

This paper focused on designing a bi-directional beams waveguide slotted antenna at millimetre wave spectrum. Waveguide slotted antenna is known for its highly directional pattern. By having bidirectional pattern, the capacity of system coverage can be expanded. The design is implemented by using antenna slot theory on a waveguide structure. The slotted are made on two wall surfaces and the performance is compared to the slotted on single wall. The two models designs are simulated using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) microwave software. The simulation results show that both models operate at 30 GHz with minimum reflection coefficient of -24.63 and -25.01 dB respectively. The two models achieved a fair high gain at 15.5 dB and 13.3 dB with directional beamwidth of 8.9 degree. The proposed bi-directional beams structure achieved a comparable gain in both directions when compared to the single direction.

<p>A compact microstrip fed printed monopole MIMO antenna with ultrawideband (UWB) frequency response (S11< -10 dB for 3.1-10.6 GHz) is proposed in this paper. The proposed antenna is miniaturized and has a high isolation of > 23 dB between the ports compared to the existing UWB multiinput multi output (MIMO) antennas in the literature. The proposed antenna is built on FR4 substrate with thickness of 1.6 mm using all-digital single chip architecture and it is planar in geometry to be easily integrated with the other electronic components in the printed circuit board (PCB). The UWBMIMO antenna is analyzed using simulation and measurements and its performance is investigated. The antenna is extremely useful for low power short range communications and it provides high multipath immunity due to diversity.</p>

<span lang="EN-US">We report the latest development in tunable transmitter optical sub-assembly (TOSA) and small form-factor pluggable (SFP) transceivers based on simple and compact V-cavity laser (VCL), aiming for low-cost deployment in metro, access and data center networks. The VCL employs a half-wave coupler to achieve high side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR) and the Vernier effect to achieve a wide wavelength tuning range. Full C-band tuning from 1529.55-nm to 1566.31-nm with SMSR above 36 dB is demonstrated. Since the laser does not involve any grating or epitaxial regrowth, and has a simple tuning algorithm, it allows simpler processes for fabrication and testing as compared to other widely tunable laser structures. Compact TOSAs and SFP transceiver modules have been developed for full C-band tuning with up to 93 channels at 50 GHz spacing. Transmission experiments are carried out for direct modulation with data rates from 2.5 Gbps to 8.5 Gbps. The results of reliability tests of the modules are also presented.</span>
