Which aspects of an oral health–related quality of life measure are mainly associated with global ratings of oral health in children?

Abstract: Associations of global ratings of oral health with Child-OIDP/OIDP scores were mainly due to the intensity of impacts. Global ratings were related to multidimensional aspects of children's quality of life.

“…Bivariate analysis showed that positive rating of oral health was associated with self-perceived satisfaction with appearance of teeth and oral condition, this is in line with previous findings that subjective assessment of oral health correlate strongly with each other as reported by authors of previous studies [21][22][23][24] . However, on multivariate analysis, only the relationship of satisfaction with oral condition was statistically significant.…”

“…The descriptive data are presented as frequency, mean, (standard deviation (SD)) and median. Because a shortcoming in using impact scores was previously revealed, the presence/absence of CS impacts was used in the association analyses between CS impacts‐caries and CS impacts‐gingival disease and their covariates. The chi‐square test and logistic regression were applied.…”

“…The impact on each daily performance was estimated by multiplying the corresponding frequency and severity scores. Different summary measures can be derived from the Child-OIDP 17,22 . The overall Child-OIDP score is the sum of the eight daily performances' scores which ranged from 0 to 72, multiplied by 100 and divided by 72 13 .…”
