“…A wide range of regulatory functions of BS covers cell division and elongation, termination of cell elongation, vascular differentiation, response to biotic and abiotic stimuli, and senescence. Treatment with exogenous brassinosteroids alleviates stress-induced retardation of growth and photosynthetic activity, improves the plant membranes status, and enhances activity of antioxidant enzymes and content of proline [46,47]. Thus, manipulations with BS signaling aiming to improve stress resistance and elevate plant productivity are promising.…”

“…ABA and BS act as antagonists in such processes as seed germination, root growth, and stomatal closure, but this does not prevent them from jointly regulating expression of approximately 100 different genes [53]. Brassionosteroids reduce accumulation of ABA in plants [47], whereas ABA inhibits BS signaling via components of ABA signaling, including its receptors and ABI2. ABA and GSK3 proteins of brassinosteroid signaling (in particular, BIN2, BIL1, and BIL2) antagonistically and jointly regulate the expression of common stress genes [49].…”

“…The protective effect of EB on wheat seedlings was associated with the accumulation of low molecular weight dehydrins, a decrease in the level of stress-induced accumulation of wheat germ agglutinin in the roots, and a change in the hormonal balance of plants. It was found that the use of EB prevents the drought-induced inhibition of the mitotic index, and wheat germ agglutinin released into the root medium and capable of exerting a protective effect on cell division of the root apical meristem is likely to significantly contribute to this effect [5]. However, in these experiments, insufficient attention was paid to the water exchange of plants under the action of osmotic stress on seedlings pretreated with EB, which is the subject of this work.…”

“…BRs are important regulators of plant growth and development, which manifests itself both under optimal and stressful conditions. To increase stress resistance, BRs, acting at very low concentrations during processing, exhibit multiple effects, actively participating in processes such as photosynthesis, antioxidant metabolism and nitrogen metabolism, the accumulation of osmolytes and the relationship of plants with water under stress conditions, and the induction of protective proteins (dehydrins, aquaporins, lectins, heat shock proteins) [1][2][3][4][5][6]. It has been demonstrated that plants with impaired BRs synthesis exhibit abnormalities in developmental phenotypes and the main pathways of signal transmission that regulate these processes [7].…”
