The substantial acknowledgement of university-industry (U-I) collaborations as promotor of economic progress, innovativeness and competitiveness fostered a continuous research engagement. At the same time, the U-I literature experienced a notable increase in the past decade, transforming into a multi-faceted and ambiguous research field, characterised by highly complex interlinks. The recent transformation hinders a comprehensive understanding of the latest developments in research directions and their clear delineation. Therefore, the purpose of this bibliometric literature review is to examine the evolution of the field and identify the primary emerging patterns. This paper employs co-citation analysis and bibliographic coupling techniques to analyse the U-I publications dataset. The findings indicate that the U-I collaborations research can be systematically clustered, resulting in an interconnected ecosystem consisting of three levels: individual, organisational and institutional, respectively. Thus, this review presents the immense contribution that the analysis of U-I collaborations makes to various research streams. Building on these findings and employing qualitative content analysis on the clustered publications, the paper develops a research agenda that encourages future investigations of previously overlooked features of U-I collaborations in general, and their role across levels of analysis, contexts and stages of the collaboration process in particular.

This study investigates the effects of convergence of science and technology on innovation impact, specifically how convergence helps R&D organizations to apply scientific knowledge to their R&D activities. In addition to direct effects of convergence, we address the moderating effects of scientific capacity, knowledge spillover, and knowledge maturity from the knowledge side. The empirical analysis, which employs a zero inflated negative binomial regression model uses data on 2074 patents granted to US organizations from the pharmaceutical industry. The results show that an increase in the proportion of scientific knowledge in convergence has a positive and curvilinear relationship with innovation impact. Also, we find that the organization's scientific capacity, regional scientific knowledge spillover, and knowledge maturity positively moderate the relationship between convergence and innovation impact. Our findings underline the importance of convergence between science and technology as well as provide implications on how to improve the outcome of an organization's research and development process.

Abstract. The dynamics of innovative development greatly depend on the efficiency of the processes employed in creating and organizing active small innovative businesses. In this area, universities, with their innovative infrastructure and collaborative arrangements with businesses that provide a synergistic effect, play an important role. The goal is to substantiate the recommendations for commercializing the results of intellectual activities using networking mechanisms of interaction between universities and high-tech enterprises. The methods employed include process modeling and ABC-analysis, as well as a systematic approach to the networking of universities and enterprises producing high-tech products. The model for the processes of commercializing innovations with the participation of universities was based on the business design methodology. The article contains an analysis of the development state of small innovative enterprises, as well as prospects for the development of interactive network mechanisms between universities and high-tech enterprises. The article defines the special role played by universities in the process of commercializing innovations; proposes models of classification, and reveals the methods of approach to an organizational and economic model of collaboration between universities and enterprises producing high-tech products. The results of the study are intended for use by heads of universities, small enterprises in the field of innovation, as well as hightech enterprises.
