Abstract: The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual 5th ed. defines obsessions in obsessive–compulsive disorder (OCD) as frequent, persistent, intrusive, unwanted thoughts that provoke anxiety and distress and lead to attempts to neutralize them with either thoughts or actions.
