The aim of the paper is to verify the existence of short- and long-term relationships between the strength of a trend and the volume in bullish and bearish cryptocurrency markets. We applied the vector error correction model to bitcoin daily data from 14.01.2015 to 22.12.2019. Based on the prices and following Wilder’s algorithm, the average directional movement index was calculated, and upward and downward trend periods were determined. No long-term relationship was found to exist between the strength of a trend and the volume in both bearish and bullish markets. Hence, trends do not react to volume changes. However, a long-term relationship exists between volume and trend—but only for the downward trend—with an adjustment speed of 88%. In the short-term, a statistically significant but very weak dependency is revealed; hence, the conclusion that trend strength is insensitive to volume changes can be reached.

The aim of this study is to measure the effect of monetary policy and monetary policy instruments, which are a serious discussion topic in the Turkish economy, on long-term economic growth. It is very difficult to observe the long-term effects of monetary policies, whose positive or negative effects can be observed very easily in the short term. Therefore, it is essential to monitor these long-term effects at the stage of determining the appropriateness of the monetary policy used. Within the scope of this study, it has been observed whether the monetary policy implemented in the Turkish economy, where the debates on the independence of central banks and monetary policies are spread over wide areas, are suitable for the determined objectives. Findings obtained as a result of econometric analysis covering the period 2006-2022 using quarterly frequency data show that the monetary policy used has a significant effect on economic growth in the long run. According to the results of the obtained cointegration equation, the increase in the interest rate and M3 money supply affects the economic growth negatively; the increase in the US dollar exchange rate affects the economic growth positively. According to the results of Granger causality analysis, M3 Money Supply and Interest is the Granger cause of GDP. There is both a short-term and a long-term relationship between these variables. The study will contribute to the literature with its results and suggestions.

Mosque plays important roles as the religious organization among Muslims. Despite a sacred place, there are some other socio-economic roles are carried out by these institution such as the Islamic teaching and learning centre, waqf and zakat (alms) management and hearse management. Nevertheless, currently there are increasing number of economic activities executed by mosque leaders to serve the local Muslims community. This study assesses the relationship between strategic orientation initiatives and mosque’s economic performance. The data is gathered through a structured questionnaire that was distributed amongst the mosques management committee leaders in the State of Selangor. The outcomes of path model analysis highlighted two important findings. First, the strategic orientation does exist among mosques management committee leaders. Second, relationship between strategic orientation and mosques non-financial performance is significantly related. The empirical evidence provides important initial exploration on enhancement of strategic orientation theory in the context of religion based organization. Drawing from the findings, we promote strategic choice for future mosque’s strategic engagement with certain types of valuable community based economic activities.
