(18. 11. 74) Mitteilung [1]Zusammenjussung. Aus den Tetralonen I und XI11 wurden auf zwei verschiedencn Wegen die Phenanthrene VIII bzw. VIII b und XVI hergestcllt. Versuche zur Synthese von Orchinol (2,4-Dimcthoxy-7-hydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthren) scheiterten in der partiellen Dehydrierung der tricyclischen Ketone X und XI und fuhrten unter vollstandiger Aromatisierung zuin Dehydroorchinol (XII).Die Synthesen von 2,4-Dimethoxy-8-hydroxyphenanthren (VIII) und von 1,3,4-Trimethoxy-6-hydroxy-9-methyl-phenanthren (XVI) 20proz. Ausbeute zum krist. 1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-l-naphtyliden-~roton-ester I1 umgesetzt, der nach einer Vorschrift von Stork [7] rnit Pd/C bei 200" in ausgezeichneter Ausbeute zum oligen, einheitlichen Naphthylbuttersaureester I11 isomerisiert wurde. Alkalische Verseifung des Esters I11 und Cyclisierung der krist. Naphthylbuttersaure IIIa mit Polyphosphorsaure [8] gab das als Phenylhydrazon IVa charakterisierte, krist. Dimethoxytetrahydrophenanthron IV, welches mit Pd/C bei 180-200", ebenfalls in sehr guter Ausbeute, zu dem als Benzoat VIIIa und als Methylather VIIIb charakterisierten 2,4-Dirnethoxy-8-hydroxyphenanthren (VIII) fiihrte.Die Synthese des 1,3,4-Trimethoxy-6-hydroxy-9-methyl-phenanthrens (XVI) begann mit dem aus der Javanicin-Synthese zur Verfugung stehenden 3-Methyl-5,7,8-trimethoxy-tetralon (XIII) [9] und fiihrte uber die HydroxymethylidenVerbindung XIV, welche mit Methylvinylketon zum ungesattigten tricyclischen Keton XV und nachfolgender Dehydrierung zu XVI vollig analog der Synthese des 2,4-Dimethoxy-6-hydroxyphenanthrens 131 verlief. In den Versuchen zur Synthese des Orchinols (2,4-Dimethoxy-7-hydroxy-9,10-dihydrophenanthren) wurde zunachst das bereits erwahnte 6,s-Dimethoxytetralon (I) mit Methylmagnesiumjodid zu dem nicht isolierten tertiaren Alkohol V und der Experimenteller TeilHerstellung von 2,4-Dimethoxy-S-hydroxy-und 2,4,8-Trimethoxy-phenanthren (VIII und VIII b). 2,3,-crotonsauremethylester (11). 30 g Zinkspane, mit Z N HC1 angeatzt, mit Wasser und Aceton gewaschen und 15. Min. im Vakuum bei 100" getrocknet, wurdcn in 100 ml abs. Benzol mit 2 g HgCl, 30 Min. belassen. Nach 2)Vgl. dazu [13]. 8)Wenn das aus dcm Tetralon I mit Lithiumalanat hergestellte Tetralol Va, welches bereits Dialin VI a enthielt, nicht vollig neutral gewaschen wurdc, so entstanden bei der Destillation grossere Mengen eines krist. schwer zu reinigenden Nebenprodukts, welches nicht naher untersucht wurde.HELVETICA CHIMICA ACTA -Vol. 57, Fasc. 3 (1974) and Tach-Trio1 [Na = C,H,(NH,), = cis-cis-l,3,5-triaminocyclohexane]. With respect to the otherwise very inert cobalt(II1)-complexes, reaction (1) is unusually rapid and takes place in two steps, the first being about 100 times faster than the second. Nach Modellversuchen rnit 1‐Tetralon, 2‐Methyl‐ und 2‐Chlor‐1, 4‐naphtochinon konnten, ausgehend von 3‐Methyl‐5, 7, 8‐trimethoxy‐1‐tetralon(7), verschiedene Teil‐probleme der Synthese des Javanicins gelöst werden. U. a. gelang die Herstellung von Derivaten (12, 14, 15a, 15d, 17, 18) des Naphtopurpurins bzw. des Tetra‐ und Pentahydroxynaphtalins die, dem Javanicin‐A‐dimethyläther (12c) schon recht nahestehen. Der Synthese des Javanicins sollten, mit Ausnahme einer selektiven Äther‐spaltung, keine prinzipiellen Schwierigkeiten mehr entgegenstehen.
