“…In some cases, and because the European record is reasonably well known, comparisons have been focused on European taxa, and identifications are thus subject to geographic restrictions. Iguania Cuvier, 1817Iguanidae Gray, 1827 Three pleurodont iguanian genera, Carduciguana (Augé, 1987;MP16-19, France), Geiseltaliellus (Kuhn, 1944;MP7, Belgium, Portugal;Augé, 2005;Augé and Pouit, 2012;MP8-10, MP16-19, MP28, France;Rossmann, 2000a;MP11-12, Germany) and Pseudolacerta (De Stefano, 1903, MP16-19, France) have been reported from the European Paleogene. “…If the generic referral of the species is correct, this feature provides further support for the alliance of Suzanniwana with Corytophaninae (see also Smith 2009 a ). The middle Eocene iguanid Geiseltaliellus Kuhn, 1944 from Europe is also closely related to Corytophaninae (Estes 1983; Smith 2009 b ), and it is possible that a medial buttress for the jugal is at least variably present in that clade as well.…”
