Las personas estudiantes de asignaturas nivelatorias sin componente experimental de física, quedan en desventaja en su evaluación por no poseer el soporte del entendimiento de los fenómenos con ayuda de la experimentación. Por sus características de accesibilidad, repetibilidad y contextualización, ¿Los Laboratorios Remotos (LR) pueden complementar la evaluación de los contenidos para esta situación por medio de Actividades Experimentales? Objetivo: Validar el uso de actividades experimentales como complemento en la evaluación de asignaturas nivelatorias sin componente experimental. Métodos: Se realiza un análisis estadístico-descriptivo, haciendo uso del programa SPSS y en escala Likert, de la opinión recopilada de un total de 52 personas estudiantes con respecto a la Actividad Experimental: Movimiento sobre un plano inclinado, haciendo uso del LR El Coche Rodante de la red LabsLand. Resultados: Se obtiene una mediana y moda de 4,5 y 5 respectivamente, de preguntas relacionadas con usabilidad, satisfacción y percepción del aprendizaje por parte de las personas estudiantes; además de que, un 64.7% de participantes encuestados, nunca han utilizado recursos experimentales en asignaturas teóricas. Conclusiones: La actividad experimental realizada presenta resultados positivos en aceptación y apropiación de las personas estudiantes encuestados, donde características de los LR como su repetibilidad y realización de la práctica en cualquier momento, son sumamente importantes para la obtención de estos resultados.

Online laboratories and computational notebooks have established themselves as essential tools in the fields of engineering and science education, significantly enhancing the teaching and learning experience. Despite the benefits of remote laboratories, and although architectures, models, and tools have been proposed to facilitate the work involved in their implementation, challenges remain in the development lifecycle. This paper proposes a novel architecture that simplifies the development and management of remote experiments using a publisher-subscriber communication paradigm to securely and efficiently integrate WebAssembly computational notebooks. This approach eliminates the need for additional infrastructure for communication at the lab stations. It also avoids the need for servers to deploy notebooks, because all operations, calculations, and data processing run locally in the user's web browser. To achieve this, a remote laboratory management system (RLMS) interoperable with virtual learning environments was designed and implemented, including notebook-based authoring, learning scenarios, and grading tools. As a case study, remote experiments were developed to characterize and evaluate the performance of heat exchangers using a thermal fluid systems test bench built for this project. Several quality criteria categorized into technical, educational, and adaptability groups were quantitatively evaluated using the responses of 70 participants from two different universities. The analysis highlighted both the advantages and challenges of the proposal, with a significant emphasis on interaction, scalability, reusability, interoperability, and accessibility. The results confirmed the effectiveness of the notebooks in each phase of the remote experiments, demonstrating an increase in students' active and autonomous participation and exploration.

Investigations on the Students’ Perception of an Online-Based Laboratory with a Digital Twin in the Main Course of Studies in Mechanical Engineering

During the coronavirus crisis, labs had to be offered in digital form in mechanical engineering at short notice. For this purpose, digital twins of more complex test benches in the field of fluid energy machines were used in the mechanical engineering course, with which the students were able to interact remotely to obtain measurement data. The concept of the respective lab was revised with regard to its implementation as a remote laboratory. Fortunately, real-world labs were able to be fully replaced by remote labs. Student perceptions of remote labs were mostly positive. This paper explains the concept and design of the digital twins and the lab as well as the layout, procedure, and finally the results of the accompanying evaluation. However, the implementation of the digital twins to date does not yet include features which address the tactile experience of working in real-world labs.
