Weather index insurance for managing drought risk in smallholder agriculture: lessons and policy implications for sub-Saharan Africa

Abstract: This paper reviews recent advances in, and challenges for, weather index insurance for managing drought risk in smallholder agriculture, with a focus on sub-Saharan Africa.
