“…The coatings of Fe-Cr-B metamorphic alloys have been fabricated by detonation gun thermal spray [2,4,5], high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) thermal spray [3,6,7], plasma transferred arc (PTA) weld-surfacing [6,8] and high-energy electron beam irradiation (HEEBI) [7] processes. For all of these fabrication processes, microstructure analysis showed that the coating consisted of boride particles such as Cr 1.65 Fe 0.35 B 0.96 and/or Cr 2 B dispersed in Fe-Cr solid solution matrix [2][3][4][5][6][7][8]. Although the existing phases are usually crystalline, HVOF spray produces a trace amount of amorphous phase and oxides [6,7].…”

“…Such coatings must have an increased thickness, good durability of adhesion with a basis, sufficient hardness and wear-resistance. In world practice the reduction of worn-out large-sized parts is carried out by retailoring [12,13,14], sputtering [15,16,17], cladding [18,19,20] and so on. But all these methods suppose an intensive thermal impact upon a part under reduction that results in hard-removable buckling and shrinkage.…”
