“…Many previous studies discovered that there was a cross-talk between reactive oxygen species and PAs for plant adaptive responses and PA could reduce ROS levels, for example, exogenous PA inhibited the accumulation of O 2 *LSD values where significant differences were detected (P B 0.05) for comparison between Non (non-pretreated) and Pre (exogenous spermidine-pretreated) at a given day Plant Growth Regul and H 2 O 2 in wheat seedlings under osmotic stress (Xu et al 2001;Pottosin et al 2014). Exogenous Spd was able to maintain antioxidant enzyme activities in welsh onion (Allium fistulosum L.) to lessen the oxidative stress by moderating the radical scavenging system (Yiu et al 2009). In current study, our data showed that Spd-pretreated creeping bentgrass showed significantly higher SOD, POD, CAT, and APX activities or exhibited lower decline as compared with untreated plants exposed to drought stress.…”

“…It has been shown that stress-tolerant plants increased endogenous PA levels to a greater extent than sensitive ones (Lee 1997). PA involvement in improving drought tolerance by exogenous application in plants has been reported (Yiu et al 2009). It also has been demonstrated that exogenous spermidine (Spd) was effective in enhancing the activity of peroxidase to lessen in this way the oxidative stress (Roychoudhury et al 2011).…”

“…According to Dutra et al (2013), the application of spermidine and spermine increased the changes of cellular structure in proembryogenic masses by producing more embryogenic and suspensor cells in Araucaria angustifolia. Exogenous spermidine and spermine also can increase the stress tolerance in Allium fistulosum toward waterlogging, by increasing the free proline accumulation, and help in maintaining high relative water content (Yiu et al, 2009). Spermine and spermidine were synthesized from putrescine by adding an aminopropyl group obtained from decarboxylated S-adenosylmethionine (Duan et al, 2008).…”

“…A lower concentration (1mM) was slightly effective, and 4mM Cat effects were little different to those of 2mM Cat. Forty eight hours after catechin treatment, the plants were waterlogged for 5 d by placing pots in 65 cm×35 cm×12 cm plastic containers filled with sufficient water to raise levels to 2 cm above the soil surface (Yiu et al 2009). Treatments consisted of control (C), 1, 3, and 5 d of waterlogging, and recovery after 4 d drainage.…”
