Vulnerable Users and Public Transport Service: Analysis on Expected and Perceived Quality Data

Abstract: Today’s cities are meeting places, economic and social development centers, where all citizens should have the opportunity to live and move, according to adequate quality of life standards. However, this does not always correspond to reality in particular for the most vulnerable categories of the population. So, UN’s 2030 Agenda underlines the need to make cities inclusive and accessible by means, for instance, a suitable transport system for all, and in particular for vulnerable people as older people. … Show more

“…Employing the recommended AADT thresholds enables FDOT practitioners to avoid misleading results, such as failing to detect genuinely high crash rate sites, over/underestimation of the effectiveness of safety countermeasures ( 49 ), and actual causes of the procrastination phenomenon in a construction project ( 50 ). Moreover, the proposed diagnostic test provides the land use planner with the tools to implement the context classification approach for development and land use management projects to improve safety conditions for roadway users of different types, including pedestrians ( 51 , 52 ), older adults ( 53 ), and vulnerable users with disabilities ( 54 ).…”

“…e latter expects that the indicators satisfy the four attributes "measurability," "ease of availability," "speed of availability," and "interpretability," in addition to being customer-oriented. In [6], the quality of service and transit reliability for older people (more than 65 years), counted as vulnerable users, are computed. A data-driven reliability study of public transportation for the Netherlands is presented in [7].…”
