Volumetric and Acoustic Behavior of Sodium Cyclamate in Aqueous System from 293.15 K to 318.15 K

Abstract: Density (q) and sound velocity (u) measurements were carried for aqueous solutions of sodium cyclamate (SC) from 293.15 to 318.15 K. Apparent molar and specific volumes, isentropic apparent molar compressibility and hydration numbers were computed from the experimental measurements. Apparent molar volumes (U V ) of SC show negative deviations from the Debye-Hückel limiting law and the values obtained for U V at given temperatures and concentrations were used as a direct measure of the ion-ion and ionsolvent in… Show more

“…Generally, increasing positive values of E φ 0 for the studied drugs in aqueous amino acid solutions means that the addition of the amino acid led to a larger volume change due to the addition of the drug. This phenomenon arises due to the effect of solutes on the surrounding water molecules, leading to increased solute–solvent interactions. Positive expansibility is a characteristic property of aqueous solutions of hydrophobic hydration. This would increase the solution volume a little more rapidly than that of the pure water, and so E φ 0 would be positive.…”

“…where A, B, and C are empirical constants that are calculated by the least-squares fitting of the standard partial molar volume at studied temperatures. 39,40 On the basis of the derivative of standard partial molar volume V φ 0 from eq 3 as a function of temperature and at constant pressure, the standard apparent molar expansibilities E φ 0 were computed, which are given in Table 4. The values of E φ 0 are positive for LiBr in aqueous PIL solutions.…”

“…The larger values at high temperatures and for ternary systems probably refer to the release of the solvent molecules to the bulk. In this respect, the V φ 0 values are correlated with a second-degree polynomial as the following equation V φ 0 = A + italicBT + C T 2 The temperature dependency of V φ 0 could be determined using empirical A , B , and C values. The temperature dependency of the standard partial molar volume was determined as a derivative of V φ 0 with respect to the temperature and named the isobaric standard partial molar expansibility E φ 0 . These values have been reported for gabapentin in Table .…”
