“…These observations are in an agreement with the reduction of nitroaromatics discussed in the literature which exhibit 4‐electron irreversible reduction (peak I) of nitro group to hydroxylamine. The reversible pair (IIa/IIb) should therefore correspond to two electron hydroxyl‐amine/nitroso reversible reaction .…”

“…HNN contains electrochemically active reducible nitro group on the phenyl moiety and oxidizable hydroxyl group on the naphthyl moiety (see Figure ). Structurally similar nitrobenzene‐like structures have been intensively studied by voltammetric methods on glassy carbon electrodes or by polarography in mixed N , N ‐dimethylformamide‐water solutions . One nitro group is usually reduced in one irreversible 4‐electron process giving hydroxylamine structure in an aqueous medium even in the presence of some organic solvent .…”

“…The feature is oen absent from the rst anodic sweep by SCV, which could indicate that it reects oxidation of species formed during the previous cathodic scan, similar to the interpretation given in a study of analogous features in SCVs of nitrobenzene in DMSO. 148 However, inspection of the SWV data obtained in this study shows that when NOMs gave an analogous peak in the net SWV data (at about À1.8 V), it was mainly due to increased current in the forward scan, and there generally was no change in the SWV reverse scan. Since the former is anodic, it conrms that the sharp rise during anodic scans in the SCV data was due to oxidation.…”

“…The FT-IR spectra exhibit the characteristic bands of amino acid and polymer matrix and suggest that although the chemical composition was identical, the frequencies were slightly different from each other [ 30 , 31 ].…”
