Volatile chemical profiling and antimicrobial activity of leaf essential oil in Eugenia mooniana Wight

Abstract: Eugenia mooniana Wight. Is an aromatic plant with restricted distribution and native to India and Sri Lanka? The present work reports the volatile chemical composition of E. mooniana leaves and their antimicrobial activity against standard strain. The leaf essential oil was isolated by hydrodistillation method (oil yield 0.2%v/w), and analysed by GC-MS (Shimadzu Nexis GC 2030). Fourty four compounds were identified from the oil.
