Abstract

Vogesella fluminis sp. nov., isolated from a freshwater river, and emended description of the genus Vogesella The genus Vogesella, first described by Grimes et al. , 1997;Chou et al., 2008Chou et al., , 2009Jørgensen et al., 2010;Subhash et al., 2013). The present study was carried out to clarify the taxonomic position of the Vogesella-like bacterial strain Npb-07 T by a polyphasic taxonomic approach.During our investigations on the biodiversity of bacteria in a freshwater river, the Beishi River (GPS location: 22 u 229 130 N 120 u 359 310 E) in the vicinity of Pingtung, Taiwan, several white-coloured bacterial colonies were isolated on R2A agar (BD Difco). Strains showing similar colony morphology were segregated and a representative strain, designated Npb-07 T , was selected for detailed taxonomic analyses. Strain Npb-07 T was maintained on R2A agar at 25 u C. The strain was preserved at 280 u C as a 20 % (v/v) glycerol suspension in R2A broth or by lyophilization with 20 % (w/v) skimmed milk.
