The aim of the article is the analysis of means and priorities for the vocational education system development, and to comprehend the positive experience of the EU countries that can be implemented in Ukraine. For the realisation of the purpose the next methods were used: analysis, synthesis, comparison, abstraction, forecasting. In the results, it is noted that the Ukrainian structure of professional education differs from the European one in the absence of intermediary organisations that contribute to the educational process. The cooperation in establishing links between industries, firms and companies, and professional education institutions is at the level of private initiatives. It has also been found that the negative processes that hinder the development of the transformation of vocational education are uncompetitive teacher salaries and low levels of digital competence. Accordingly, this affects the low motivation to use innovative educational methods and technologies in education. The conclusions note the possibility of borrowing the French experience of the reorganisation of professional education with the formation of a structure in which students begin to receive professional education in the last grades of school.

The importance of strengthening Pancasila values in vocational students necessitates a holistic learning approach; one such effort is to integrate Indonesian language learning with local wisdom to instil national identity in students and prepare the younger generation to face global challenges. As a result, the purpose of this research was to describe the implementation of Indonesian language learning based on local wisdom in Vocational High Schools to raise the profile of Pancasila students. This study is part of a qualitative research design using the case study method. Residents of vocational high schools in Central Java made up the research respondents. Data was gathered by interview and observation techniques, then interactively and descriptively analysed. The findings of the study revealed that school management, from the principal to the teachers, was completely dedicated to adopting the Merdeka curriculum as a pilot project by incorporating local wisdom-based Indonesian language learning processes. Even though there are some flaws, the learning process based on local wisdom that has been applied thus far appears to be functioning almost perfectly. Furthermore, students benefit from local wisdom-based learning since it is seen as an adaptive model for accommodating competencies that strengthen the student profile of Pancasila as the foundation and identity of the Indonesian nation. However, improvements and optimisation are still required to implement this Merdeka curriculum to ensure the results can be even better in assisting students in mastering subject matter, particularly the Indonesian language subject matter, and providing a foundation and knowledge of Indonesian wisdom culture.

Perceived school service quality and vocational students’ learning satisfaction: Mediating role of conceptions of vocational education

This study examined the relationships among vocational students’ perceptions of school service quality, their learning satisfaction, and their conceptions of vocational education in Chinese secondary vocational schools. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 10,721 students through multistage sampling. Perceived school service quality was assessed using the five-factor SERVPERF instrument, learning satisfaction was measured with the one-factor SSwLA scale, and conceptions of vocational education were evaluated using the one-factor SCoVE scale. These instruments were subjected to internal, convergent, discriminant, and construct validity tests, including exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Structural equation modeling (SEM) analyzed the relationships among the constructs. Additionally, mediation analysis was employed to explore the mediating role of students’ conceptions of vocational education in the relationship between perceived school service quality and learning satisfaction. Results indicated that learning satisfaction was positively influenced by students’ perceptions of school service quality, particularly responsiveness, assurance, reliability, and empathy, but negatively by tangibles. Furthermore, the association between students’ perceived school service quality and learning satisfaction was mediated by their conceptions of vocational education, highlighting the complex interaction between perceived service quality and students’ learning satisfaction. These findings provide critical insights for policymakers and educators seeking to enhance effectiveness and satisfaction within vocational education settings.
