“…Air objective and oil-immersion objectives are widely used in scanning microscopy, such as scanning confocal and stimulated emission depletion (STED) microscopy, which are fundamental instruments in biological, biomedical and material researches. 21,22 In the imaging process, the interface with refractive indices discontinuous is inevitably inclined or deformed during the imaging process. In the microscopes equipped with an air objective lens, the oblique angle of inclined interface can be even large due to the long working distance (WD).…”

“…Air objective (such as RMS40X‐PF and N60X‐PF from Nikon) has been widely used in confocal microscope for scanning surface structures of materials, 21 where the materials are placed on glass slides. In case 1, a 40× NA 0.75 objective lens is studied.…”

“…TEM analysis revealed the presence of spherical particles of oil phase with a dimension under 100 nm, stabilized in the aqueous medium [190]. In the same direction, confocal laser microscopy can be a useful tool with application in material structure analysis, being largely accessed for microemulsion characterization [191].…”
