Mobile devices have gained more attention from the society that is using them increasingly for a variety of purposes. For complete insertion of the population in this constant digital evolution it is fundamental that mobile applications also offer access to different user profiles, regardless of their disabilities or limitations. Considering quality, productivity, and speed of application creation, there is a wide range of good development practices and evaluations. However, methods that involve usability and accessibility are still developing. The purpose of this article is to present the Acc-MobileCheck, which is a checklist of accessibility and usability for mobile devices apps, based on good software development practices and guided by Design Patterns. The Acc-MobileCheck, composed of 47 verification items, consists of questions that look for evidence of problems of comprehension, operation, perception, and adaptation in mobile apps. The evaluation method aims to address difficulties that can be faced by people with hearing, visual, intellectual, or mobility impairment. Five experts and three developers of mobile apps had evaluated the Acc-MobileCheck. The conclusive results show that the checklist is usable and includes essential issues for the evaluation of accessibility and usability. The data obtained allowed a restructuring of the evaluation method developed, and the positive comments about the checklist demonstrate its adequacy to attend the demand.

Usability evaluation is a basic tool for investigating a system's performance in different environments. Many studies found a positive influence of different user interface aesthetics and their organization on usability ratings. These design aspects are one of the most important characteristics of systems usability, and few empirical studies have been examining the importance of typography specifically for safety-critical systems. This study aimed to investigate how different typographic factors, i.e., typeface and fontcase, influence a user's performance in health care safety-critical systems. Different study variables were considered, including task completion time, reflection time, and the total number of touches. To test the study objectives, the Hamilton-c6 ventilator prototype was developed. The experiments were conducted on 15 participants, including male and female physicians, in a controlled environment from different healthcare venues. A well-known technique, one-way ANOVA, was used to assess the data. The results suggest a significant difference between serif (times new roman) and sans serif (Calibri) groups for task completion time; in addition to that, the difference between fontcase groups (sentence case, lowercase, and uppercase) was not statistically significant. Moreover, this study investigated the pairwise influence of different typeface and fontcase groups. The results show a significant difference in task completion time. The descriptive analysis of different groups shows that the times new roman with the upper case group has the lowest task completion time while the Calibri with the uppercase groups have the highest task completion time. This study may pave a good research direction to explore the impact of these and other aesthetic factors in multiple contexts.

BACKGROUND: Designing information systems will increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the system according to the information needs of the stakeholders. The present study examined the effective features of designing the information system of medicinal plants from the perspective of its users as a prerequisite for the design of this system. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This applied research was carried out using survey method and a researcher-made questionnaire. The study population consisted of two groups of information users (faculty members, students, and researchers of medicinal plants) and information disseminators (librarians), and 308 individuals were selected by cluster sampling from five universities. Data analysis was performed using descriptive and inferential statistics using SPSS software version 22. RESULTS: The results showed that in view of the two groups of users, there was a significant difference in the search options in the database of medicinal plants and the displaying characteristics of the search results. On an average, the rank of the two groups in these two domains was largely different. In other cases, the users considered shared features for capabilities and facilities in an information system of medicinal plants. CONCLUSION: According to the results, for obtaining the information system of medicinal herbs with better capabilities and facilities, it is essential for designers to pay attention to all elements and objections in the interaction of the human and the system, especially in the field of search.
