Visual Comfort Analysis of Semi-Transparent Perovskite Based Building Integrated Photovoltaic Window for Hot Desert Climate (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia)

Abstract: Buildings consume considerable amount of energy to maintain comfortable interior. By allowing daylight, visual comfort inside a building is possible which can enhance the occupant’s health, mood and cognitive performance. However, traditional highly transparent windows should be replaced with semitransparent type window to attain a comfortable daylight inside a building. Evaluation of visual comfort includes both daylight glare and colour comfort analysis. Building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) type windows a… Show more

“…Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) is crucial parameters, which quantify the quality of a building's environment in terms of health and well-being of buildings occupants. IEQ is a combined factor of thermal comfort ( Ghosh et al, 2018a ), visual comfort ( Ghosh et al, 2021 ), interior light ( Ghosh and Norton, 2017a ) and air temperature ( Hemaida et al, 2020 ), psychosocial impact ( Pollard et al, 2021 ). However, there is no standard is available which can assesses the occupants health.…”

“…CCT is measured in kelvin ( K ) and signifies a light source’s “coolness” and “warmth”. CRI over 80 is accepted for building window application, and CRI over 90 is outstanding [ 59 , 60 , 61 ]. For CCT , the range between 3000 K and 7500 K is desired for transmitted daylight.…”

“…The study concludes that climate and temperature can affect the performance of BIPV, and specific materials must be considered depending on the climate. The authors of [19] assess "visual comfort of semi-transparent Perovskite based BIPV window for hot desert climate". The study suggests that daylight has the tendency to improve the health, mood and mindset of occupants.…”
