Visual attention and spatial behavior in VR environment: An environmental psychology approach

Abstract: The aim of the study was to analyze the desktop subjects' gaze behavior and movement in the VR. Using the grounded theory method categories of the behavior evolved such as acts defying the laws of physics (e.g. reaching through walls, placing posters in the air), scanning and using off-topic materials (e.g. window, plant, partner's avatar), the size of the scanned area and the extension of the movements. Additional categories developed analyzing the verbal content of the videos (e.g. emotional content or verba… Show more

“…The study adopted the standard practice of selecting fit indices from previous research (Jackson et al, 2009; Zhou et al, 2012) and settled on the following fit indices to test the adjusted measurement model: χ 2 , degrees of freedom ( df ), χ 2 / df ratio, goodness-of-fit index (Keszei et al, 2014), adjusted goodness-of-fit index (AGFI), normed fit index (NFI), Tucker-Lewis index (TLI), comparative fit index (CFI), and root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA). The results, summarized in Table 3, showed all evaluation indices of the measurement model fell into acceptable ranges based on recommended criteria with the measurement model’s fit indices well above the minimum values recommended by prior studies (Hair et al, 2019; Segars & Grover, 1993; Zhou et al, 2012).…”

“…Of course, the current thesis is not the first initiative to study how humans interact with complex three dimensional virtual environments (e.g. Bohil, Alicea, & Biocca, 2011;Keszei et al, 2014;Sziebig & Øritsland, 2012). Nonetheless, integrative view of neuroscientific, cognitive, and psychological results makes the present work a unique contribution to the field.…”

“…Mostly composed by unregistered micro and small enterprises, South Kivu food and agribusiness sector have been victims of the fallout of armed conflict and looting that led some large companies to reduce their productive capacity and others to cease their activities (Vwima, 2014). In addition, several agricultural policies have been adopted but failed to boost the agricultural sector as they have been geared towards improving the business environment of major mining companies at the expense of agriculture (Lebailly, Michel, & Ntoto, 2014) and promoting local small business. Programs implemented by the Congolese government with its multiple partners for supporting SMEs and agribusiness to provide primary production and downstream support service failed too (Kabango, 2015).…”
