Visual Analysis of Proximal Temporal Relationships of Social and Communicative Behaviors

Abstract: Developmental psychology researchers examine the temporal relationships of social and communicative behaviors, such as how a child responds to a name call, to understand early typical and atypical development and to discover early signs of autism and developmental delay. These related behaviors occur together or within close temporal proximity, forming unique patterns and relationships of interest. However, the task of finding these early signs, which are in the form of atypical behavioral patterns, becomes mo… Show more

“…It helps experts and decision makers to improve their understanding and to better deal with ricks in the insurance industry. Visualization and visual analytics have been introduced both in academia and industry: 1) to provide a clear view of customers adverse behavior, transactions monitoring, premium fluctuations, and in complex everyday decision-making [19,11,39]; 2) to characterize data, user and task [27,10,45]; and 3) discovering imbalances and monitoring risk [14]. Whereas some contributions are domain-specific, e.g., visual animation is adopted to investigate the vast amounts of time-series dataset [53,7,46].…”

“…Summarization of event sequences aims to use intuitive representations to reveal major progression patterns and featured groupings of the sequence entities. In many domains such as health informatics [7], [28], [38], [73], [74], [78], [89], social media [57], [76], and career design [36], [37], a variety of analytical tasks serve the purpose of generating summaries, including explicit summarization, inexplicit summarization, progressional analysis, and clustering.…”
