Uncontrolled median openings contribute to more road crashes because drivers do not obey traffic laws such as driving between lanes and following speed limits. This study examined the effectiveness of the different types of signs near an uncontrolled median opening in Mahmoud Abad, Iran. There were Signs 1 and 2 with a single message, while Signs 3 and 4 contained multi-messages. An Internet of Things (IoT) test system was developed to collect and record vehicle speed data before and after each sign installation. Results showed that speeding behavior decreased almost immediately after the road signs were installed and remained almost constant until the beginning of uncontrolled median openings. Moreover, multi-message traffic signs reduce vehicle speeds twice as much as single-message signs. Additionally, only multi-message signs are effective at reducing speed limit violations.

In recent years, visible light communication (VLC) has grown in prominence to accommodate the everincreasing demand for data traffic. As global awareness of energy-related issues rises, solar cells with dual functions of energy harvesting and data collection emerge as the preferred choice for photodetectors on the receiver side of the VLC system. This research looks into the design of a low-cost Light Fidelity (Li Fi) system using a solar panel as a photodetector. The proposed system is capable of simultaneous data transmission and energy harvesting. The generated energy can potentially be used to power a user terminal or at least to prolong its operation time. It also discusses various parameters such as distance, visibility and angle that affect the Li-Fi communication. The modulation and demodulation have been implemented on the software level and algorithms for them are clarified in this paper. The prototype was put to the test by sending a text message via visible light from one PC to another.

Visible light communication (VLC) has become a promising technology for high data rate communications and an attractive complementary to conventional radio frequency (RF) communication. VLC is a secure, energy efficient and cost-effective technology that exploits the existing infrastructure, particularly in indoor environments, for wireless data transmission. Nevertheless, the main limitation of developing high data rate VLC links is the narrow modulation bandwidth of light-emitting diodes (LEDs), which is in the megahertz range. The power domain nonorthogonal multiple access (PD-NOMA) scheme is envisioned to address several challenges in VLC systems. In this paper, we present a detailed overview of PD-NOMA based VLC systems. Moreover, we introduce insights on some PD-NOMA VLC system constraints and challenges such as power allocation, clipping effect, MIMO and security. Finally, we provide open research problems as well as possible directions for future research to pave the way for the implementation of PD-NOMA VLC systems.
