Viscosity of Coal-Tar Residues - Comparison of Viscosity Measurements and A. S. T. M. Penetration Tests

Abstract: The industrial chemist who examines the asphaltic and coal-tar residues commonly used for protective coatings, roofing, and waterproofing purposes determines the apparent viscosities of these materials by the A.S.T.M. penetration test. Many attempts have been made to correlate the results of this test with absolute viscosity measurements.
