“…To the best of our knowledge, we are first to report the invasion/intracellular survival of E. coli and Salmonella strains isolated from the vegetables/fruits. More interestingly, the observed invasive efficiency and intracellular survivability of vegetable-/fruit-origin E. coli and Salmonella isolates were approximately similar to those reported in clinical or animal-isolated strains of E. coli and Salmonella (Pasmans et al 2004;Hussain et al 2017).
