Virtual Reality: History, Applications, and Challenges for Human Factors Research

Abstract: Research into the viability of virtual reality (VR) systems goes back nearly five decades. Even so, Human Factors researchers utilizing this type of technology are by most estimates still relatively rare in the field. The following paper focuses on how virtual reality technology is evolving into a viable tool during the research process.
