Verification of the Orbital Character of Low-Lying M1 Excitation Mode in 160 Gd by 22 MeV Proton Inelastic Scattering at a Forward Angle

Abstract: By 22 MeV proton inelastic scattering at the forward angle of loo, the orbital chardcter of new low-lying MI excitation states in '"Gd bas been verified. At the same time, several new energy levels of '"Gd are observed, and values of spin, parity and deformation length for two new energy levels with excitation energies of 2.558 and 2.607MeV are given via collective distorted wave Born approximation calculations.
