Verificação do efeito hipoglicemiante da planta medicinal Bauhinia forficata em indivíduos com diabetes mellitus tipo 2

Abstract

Introdução: A planta medicinal Bauhinia forficata tem sido relatada como possível hipoglicemiante. Objetivos: Avaliar o efeito hipoglicemiante da B. forficata em pacientes com diabetes tipo 2. Métodos: Na primeira coleta (coleta 1), 49 indivíduos foram submetidos à avaliação antropométrica e glicêmica, pelo teste da glicemia capilar (HGT) e hemoglobina glicada (A1C). Para a verificação do efeito da B. forficata, os pacientes receberam o chá após a segunda coleta de dados (coleta 2). Os participantes foram reavaliados 45 dias (coleta 3) e 5 meses (coleta 4) após o consumo do chá. A média de idade da população analisada foi 65,51 ± 8,38 anos, e a média do IMC, de 30,14 ± 4,83 kg/m2. Resultado: Não houve diferença significativa nos valores da glicemia de jejum e na A1C antes e após o uso do chá. Conclusão: Não houve efeito hipoglicemiante com o uso de B. forficata na população em questão.
