“…Our data suggested a probable common mechanism of several environmental factors causing craniofacial syndromes. We note that the molecular links between RA, hypoxia, and diabetes revealed in our study reflect those shown between the RA signaling pathway and cigarette smoking 61 63 or ethanol exposure 64 66 which are other environmental factors associated with embryonic defects. Finally, our models offer new target genes for craniofacial disorders and thus help to decipher molecular pathways involved in craniofacial development.…”

“…Our study revealed that exposure to chemicals in e-cigarettes significantly decreased the survival likelihood in chicken embryos as 76% of chicken embryos in the 60 μg ECL group died compared to only 11% from their matched controls. This finding is consistent with the current literature on the effects of traditional cigarette smoking on embryo survival [ 23 ]. Other studies have elucidated the harmful effects of ECL on embryogenesis albeit by using different animal models.…”

“…To our knowledge, no studies investigated the effects of ECL on embryo survival and its effects on the early stages of embryogenesis including angiogenesis. Therefore, we decided to use the chicken embryo model as it has been used to study similar parameters in previous studies [ 18 , 23 ]. Our study revealed that exposure to chemicals in e-cigarettes significantly decreased the survival likelihood in chicken embryos as 76% of chicken embryos in the 60 μg ECL group died compared to only 11% from their matched controls.…”

“…The results were evaluated as CSP and expressed in terms of means ± S.D. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Post hoc t-test was applied to analyze data and P < 0.05 was considered as significant [34,37].…”
