“…Vaccination is the most effective means of preventing and controlling infectious diseases, the protection rate of attenuated smallpox virus vaccines against monkeypox is about 78% 5 , it is necessary to develop vaccines with higher protection rates. Developing monkeypox vaccines based on monkeypox virus antigens is a reasonable approach, currently, multiple types of monkeypox virus protein vaccines and mRNA vaccines have been reported, these results indicate that representative monkeypox antigens, such as A29L, A35R, M1R, B6R, etc., have good immunogenicity and can induce neutralizing antibodies against the orthopox virus as immunogens 6,7 . Previous studies have mainly used the vaccinia virus as the test strain for the neutralization activity testing of sera induced by an immune response to speci c antigens of the monkeypox virus, however, the neutralization results against the vaccinia virus may deviate from those against the monkeypox virus, leading to the misleading design of novel monkeypoxspeci c vaccines.…”
